Doreen started her showbiz career at the tender age of 8 in front of 20,000 people with none other than Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Not willing to share the limelight, Doreen and Miss Ross parted ways immediately after the performance.

 

Doreen, a New York University Theater major, has been a SAG-AFTRA  member since 1978.

In 2013 she published her first book, Confessions of a Working Girl or How to Get Laid (Off), available on Amazon. Or the trunk of her car.

 

Doreen holds the honor of being the first female inducted into the Rhode Island Comedy Hall of Fame in 2015. In celebration of that honor, she began producing an annual all female comedy show called The Ladies Room, sponsored by female-owned businesses.

Her SNL-like late night TV show, Rhode Bytes with Doreen Collins, won her a Peoples Choice Telly Award.

She won the Options Magazine Best Local Stand-Up Comic award in 2025 and 2026.

Doreen is currantly performing the Best of RI comedy cabaret, Aging Disgracefully, and is a content contributer, and Rhody Round-Up regular on The Rhode Show.

But, wait, there’s more! March 2026, Doreen joined 6 million others and launched a podcast, BRAS (Bitches Ranting About Shit), which, like a good bra, helps lift and support women by giving them a mic and a place to be heard.

 

And finally, in September 2026, Doreen became a columnist for the Rhode Island WAVE. She’s writing a monthly column with a Carrie Bradshaw-meets-Erma Bombeck kind of humor, hoping to add one more way to amuse the masses.
